On the 16th of September, at 8:00 am and then 7:00 pm UK time, three of the Anglican Communion networks are coming together with the Mothers’ Union to co-sponsor an online time of prayer in honour of the MU 150th. The event is provisionally titled: “150 Years of Faith, Online prayer gathering in honor of the Mothers’ Union: supporting justice, peace, women, and families”
The programme will feature four recorded talks as well as live prayers: there will be a talk on the MU’s work with women by Worldwide President Kathleen Snow; a talk on the MU’s work on families by Revd Christine Mbona (DP for Cyprus and the Gulf); a talk on the MU and peace by Sue Claydon, Chair, Anglican Pacifist Network; Secretary, Anglican Peace and Justice Network (England); and a talk on the MU and justice (speaker tbc).
Different people will do the prayers depending on time zones: for the family network, the 8 am prayers will be written and read by Dorothy Siep, an MU Zonal trustee from PNG (we hope! Her internet connection is often intermittent, so we do have a back-up), and the 7:00 pm ones by Valerie West, Provincial President for the West Indies.
The International Anglican Family Network recently prepared the attached booklet of prayers for families.
