A prayer for December
Advent is a time of waiting. As we wait, we contemplate our lives, those things that we have done and those things that we have left undone. As we wait for your coming again in glory, we hope that we will be ready to receive you with pure hearts, having done Your will.
We remember as we go through Advent, the difficulties and emotions felt by the Holy couple as they were confronted by the news of a baby. We imagine the feeling of fear as they embarked upon a perilous journey whilst Mary was heavily pregnant. We feel with them the rejection as they were told there was nowhere for them to stay. We also feel the love that was given to this world by the tiny baby, born in poverty, but destined to save the world and reign in heaven as our saviour. Jesus our Saviour, we worship you as did the shepherds and kings in the stable. We offer our work for the Mothers’ Union as our gift as we kneel in worship and wonder.
Amen.
