Baby Basics MK is a volunteer-led charity, dedicated to supporting families who are in greatest need in Milton Keynes. They rely on donations of second-hand, but good condition, baby essentials. These are lovingly made into gift packages that give families everything they will need to get started with a new baby, and continue to support them where needed. Families may be referred to by health professionals, such as health visitor and midwifes, and local churches.
Members can help support Baby Basics by donating …
- Baby and children’s clothes up to age 5
- Baby equipment such Moses baskets (these can be second hand but will need to have a brand new, still packaged, mattress) and baby baths
- Bedding and baby towels
- New bottles
- Toiletries for mum and baby
If you knit, they are in need of…
- Baby clothes
- Small blankets
- Hats, scarves and mittens for ages 3 – 5
Please remember the volunteers and families in your prayers. Marion Gunning from the Prayer & Spirituality Unit has written this prayer for us…
Heavenly Father, your infant Son was born in a stable then fled into exile with his parents, faced with an uncertain future. Yet He was sent by you as a gift of Love to share with the world; a gift carried forward by Baby Basics today.
We give thanks for everyone involved in Baby Basics, for the work they do, for the care and support they give and the generosity shown by so many who support their endeavours. We pray too for the families who seek their help and ask for your blessing on them as their children grow. We ask this knowing that you care for each and everyone of us.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer. Amen
Here is our prayer for 2020…
we praise you for your steadfast love and the truth of your eternal word;
the rock on which we build our lives.
Give us new hope and the confidence to trust your promises,
that as we reach out in loving service to families both near and far,
we will find you already ahead of us,
bringing your Kingdom into being,
in every community,
in every family,
in every heart.
The prayer is available to print as 4 to a page
This file is designed to be printed double sided (if your printer has the option, “flip on the long side”)

Thank you all for your continued support for our Hospital Project. There have been some changes at Ronald McDonald House at the John Radcliffe so here is an update on how we can support them more effectively.
A big thank you to all who knitted blankets for the cots. Please do not make any more until further notice as they have more than enough for now. You can still make baby quilts.

A new facility is planned for parents at the JR. Once this is built things will change again and I will let you know how we can support the families.
Treasured memory Kits are always needed – these can be bought on Amazon (please use Amazon Smile so that Mothers’ Union benefits too!).
Please search for ‘Mybabylog Inkless Wipe Hand and Footprint Kit’ when you want to purchase them (current price £4.99).
There is a need for some knitting for the chaplains at the John Radcliffe Hospital; small knitted squares with crosses on and some larger shawls. Get in touch with Alison Bennett and she will collect them once you have finished them and sewn in a Mothers’ Union label.
It is important that you pray while you are knitting these, there is a sheet with prayers on for you to use. Please see below for the leaflet of patterns and prayers…
