By leaving a legacy Mothers’ Union work will continue long into the future. It is a lovely way to make a lasting contribution to an organisation you care about.
Your legacy will:
- Support parents
- Help people to learn to read and write
- Allow MU to campaign to promote conditions in society that enable families to flourish
- Provide holidays for families facing adversity
- Empower communities
- Promote stable marriage
If you have already made a Will, but would now like to include a gift to MU, you can complete a codicil form, accessed here: Codicil to include Mothers’ Union in an existing Will
When referring to Mothers’ Union in your Will, please use the following details:
Charity Name: Mothers’ Union, Diocese of Oxford
Address: CMS House, Watlington Road, Oxford, OX4 6BZ
Registered Charity Number: 249723
If you want more detailed information, the Diocese has a number of helpful brochures. These are available from the Diocesan Office and at Diocesan Meetings.
If you wish to notify us about your intentions this Pledge Form can be completed, but this your decision. However, MU will have the opportunity to be able to thank you and show what you are helping us to achieve.
The government currently allows tax payers to authorise their supported charity to claim back the tax that they (the donors) have already paid on their income. Mothers’ Union, Diocese of Oxford, is registered to do this and has been regularly receiving around £4,000 annually from the government. This is a valuable source of income which goes towards the running of our organisation.
Please encourage tax paying members to complete a Gift Aid Declaration Form if they have not already done so. Remind members that should their tax status change they may become eligible to be a Gift Aid (GA) donor, but also to let the Diocesan Office know if as a GA donor they no longer pay tax and should be removed from the Diocesan GA list.
Annual Branch GA Listing Declaration
This green form is included with the Annual Returns and is usually completed by the branch treasurer. The total amount for each GA donor should be their subscription for the current year plus any MU donations (this could be a branch fee, AFIA donation, contribution to MSH etc). Please note that Families First subs must NOT be included here.
Please add any new tax paying members to the bottom of the branch list, ensuring they have signed a declaration form.
New information: where there is a joint subscription, only half the amount can be declared unless the second person is a tax payer themselves and has completed a GA declaration form.
The GA Officer often has queries with the branches when the data is entered. Please ensure that there is a name to contact on the green form.
Using these envelopes is a good way to record GA donations to MU. Branches may wish to use these at Deanery Services or fundraising events and obtaining GA donations from those who are not members. The envelopes are held in bulk by AVPs and at the Diocesan Office and will be available at Diocesan Meetings. Please apply to the Office or your AVP if you wish to increase your stock.
Processing the GA envelopes
Ensure the writing is legible; we need title, first name / initials, surname, first line of address and postcode. Record the amount of money on the outside of the envelope, bank the money and send the empty envelopes to the Diocesan Office.
