Away from it All Holidays

AFIA logoAway from it all – that’s what it’s all about.
For many families in our diocese just being able to spend time together as a family on holiday is a luxury and longed for thought.
Our aim is to give families quality time together to make and share special memories and let children be children.

The scheme is open to anyone who is in need, for health, financial, bereavement, family reasons or situations beyond their control. Our understanding of their circumstances, and information given to us is vital and enables us to pray, understand and offer them the most appropriate help and support.

We do ask for a referee, this can be a Doctor, Health Visitor, Clergy, teacher or a Mothers’ Union member. Once the applications are received and processed we are able to advise whether the application has been successful or not. When we contact the families to confirm their holiday, you can imagine there is a wonderful response! Some families or children have never had the experience of packing and the excitement of looking forward to a holiday, let alone spending time together away from home.

The holidays we offer in the Oxford Diocese are either at Butlins or Haven.
Mothers’ Union fund-raise, organise and pay for the holiday. We also are able to offer financial help if another charity or organisation are able to provide a more suitable break for the family circumstances.

We have had some lovely letters and postcards thanking the Mothers’ Union members for the wonderful experience that the family have shared…

“We would like to THANK The Mothers Union so much for giving us a holiday to remember. We felt very blessed and refreshed; we really enjoyed ourselves and it gave us quality time together.”

“We had a wonderful time and it was an experience that the children will remember, we are extremely grateful for the valuable family time together.”

The Mothers’ Union enjoy and are privileged to be able to offer our services in helping others in this wonderful cause.
We are a part of something special, The Mothers’ Union.
