Some Social Policy news is included in Families Worldwide and Families First but more comprehensive and up to date news is found in the monthly Policy Watch.
This newsletter highlights Social Policy issues and keeps members informed of activities at Mary Sumner House and elsewhere and usually includes a Faith Reflection. News about Government legislation that affects marriage and family life is highlighted and there is always a brief synopsis of both the Budget and the Queens Speech at the relevant times of year as well as the Political Party conferences (where ideas that the various parties have that affect family life are often first mooted).
Ideas for taking positive action are included and many find that this is a great way of inspiring and involving both members and others in Mothers’ Union activities.
Ideas for engaging in issues and updates of the campaigns in which we are involved are included as well as feedback from the Consultations in which we have participated. The articles will give members ideas and suggestions for action; anyone can use the newsletter to inspire their own social policy work or support the work of others in prayer. The latest Policy Watch is available to download from the central Mothers’ Union website.
If you are interested in being involved in this work, please contact our Diocesan Office who will put you in touch with the Social Policy Contact in the diocese.
