Types of Membership

A Group of Mothers' Union members with a banner

Membership comes in all shapes and sizes, which will suit you best?

  • Branch Membership – Members are part of a group attached to a parish who meet together usually once a month for fellowship, worship and a talk. They also engage in projects and join in deanery and diocesan events. Every branch may organise themselves as best suits them and their parish and therefore there are quite wide differences in the way branches are run. For the year 2012 the subscription for branch membership is £20, or £32.50 for joint membership.
  • Diocesan Membership – Diocesan Membership is for those who, for a variety of reasons, do not want to be a member of a branch, or cannot because there is no local branch. Each member has a contact who sends them Focus (the diocesan newsletter) and other publications, together with a letter informing them of local and diocesan events to which they are invited. Some diocesan members take part in projects with local groups or within their area and some hold office or participate in an area of work in which they are particularly interested. Some simply use their membership as a way of supporting the Mothers’ Union. For the year 2012 the subscription for Diocesan membership is £22.50, or £35 for joint membership (incl. of postage).
  • Indoor Members’ Prayer Circle - This type of membership is for those who are not able to participate in other types of membership, but still wish to retain their interest in the Mothers’Union. They each have a correspondent who sends them Focus and other communications to keep them informed about the current MU. These members form a powerhouse of prayer for the society. For the year 2012 the subscription for Indoor Members is £16.00.
