North Bucks Summer Meeting

The North Bucks. Summer meeting was held in Milton Keynes this year using the spacious premises of Loughton Baptist Church.

The speaker was Alison Bennett, our Diocesan Social policy rep. She gave us an inspiring and very informative talk on the varied work of the Mothers' Union in the UK and Overseas, reminding us that although we only represent 2% of the membership, we support over 85% of its work. We were particularly moved to hear about the dedicated work of MU members in the turbulent situation in our link diocese in the Democratic Republic of the Congo where loving care is given to many women and girls who have been raped and rejected by their communities. Although we are relatively fortunate here in the UK we were reminded of the varied projects undertaken by MU members her and went home challenged to take a more active part locally in supporting children and parents in our communities and churches.
